The ECAV project is to conduct valuable activities related to violence against women through the arts and educational workshops. Participants created various posters and flyers to promote the campaign, and T-shirts by artists symbolizing the ECAV project campaign.
  • Bracelet Craft Activity: On November 2nd, 18 youth and adult participants from Hanaro Church made bracelets with the ECAV logo.

EARS Project 1: E- Animation Class

Following the explosive increase in the number of YouTubers, the animation class was created to help teenagers express their talents through making videos with computers. They were very interested in E-Animation workshops. In this 2nd E-animation class, though we planned for a total of 10 sessions from September 20 to November 22, 2022, more than 30 participants had the opportunity to create and produce their own videos. The E-Animation workshop was created to contribute to helping young people prepare videos with their parents for our video forum. In this second E-animation class, youth completed a total of 10 sessions; more than 30 participants had the opportunity to learn these practices.

EARS project activities until June 2023

The EARS Project is intended to help youth overcome the mental difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and secure a healthy lifestyle to build the strength to lead their daily lives well. Therefore, we held a workshop to improve emotional intelligence and resilience skills, a mentoring program, basketball and yoga classes to promote physical activity, and a vision forum to share each other's vision.  A celebration meeting all together for the EARS project will be held in March.

The 38th Counselling Education & Volunteer Training

FUTFS held our 39th Counseling Education and Volunteer Training Program from October 7 to November 25, 2022 focused on sharing and taking care of each other as an education to discover ourselves and understand others. Eight volunteers who visited Milal Mission had lunch together on Saturday, November 19, 2022. In the future, we plan to form a volunteer team with compassionate volunteers who have been trained and volunteers who are already active to provide essential volunteer services to the Korean-Canadian community.

Suicide Prevention Workshop Series

The suicide prevention project is to teach the appropriate understanding of suicidal impulses and prevention methods. Various education and practice on suicide prevention were carried out with a workshop series from September 22nd to November 22nd, 2022. There was a total of 12 participants in the project, and since there were non-Koreans, it was conducted in English. A 24-hour telephone crisis line for English-speaking youth was opened (new crisis hotline - 416 -938-4673). Next year, a suicide prevention workshop series for 8 sessions in Korean will be held in March, and more volunteers will be secured to help with mental health and suicide prevention as the Crisis Line for Korean and English-speaking countries has become more helpful.

ACCESS Project: Conversation Window for  Seniors

‘Conversation Window’ is one of the activities in implementing the ACCESS project.  The purpose of this activity is to support healthy and happy lives for seniors and to allow them to share their stories through positive dialogue. Through ‘Conversation Window,’ the seniors will be able to connect with the local community, share with experts, be cared for, get a reprieve from loneliness and isolation, and obtain various information and the emotional stability necessary for a healthy life. All conversations will be kept confidential.

BASE Project: Outreach Service for Leadership Improvement in Korean-Canadian  Community

FUTFS will meet one-on-one with community leaders to share their lives and visions, and provide workshops that are helpful for positive change and growth in the group to which they belong, and provide individual coaching or education at the request of the leaders. In particular, this project provides outreach services for improving the leadership of the Korean-Canadian community leaders and for the development of local groups and organizations.

The English Café - Every Tuesdays 10:30 am- 12:00 pm

FUTFS provides the opportunity to have fun through informative English education classes in order to help trained volunteers do volunteer work without language barriers. This class is held every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until noon. It is free and anyone who wishes to attend may do so.

Colour Psychology

I like OO colours, what does this mean?’

I received many questions like this while studying colour. Why do people wonder what colour means? So, what is colour and what is the relationship between colour and psychology? The reason we can see colour is that there is light. When light is transmitted to an object, the object reflects, transmits, or absorbs the light. Among them, the reflected light is delivered to our eyes, and this light is reflected on the retina, transmitted to the visual cells, and then transmitted to the cerebrum through the optic nerve. This colour information transmitted to the cerebral alliance is perceived differently by each person depending on the individual's experience or mental activity such as consciousness. Therefore, colour is perceived through the physical processes of light and objects, physiological processes of body organs, and psychological reactions. ‘Because of this series of processes, we feel different even when we see the same colour. Colour psychology is the study of the process of colour perception and the effect of colour on humans. Red is dangerous, blue is honesty and trust, and green is rest and safety. However, in addition to these symbolic meanings, there are many cases in which other emotions or feelings are expressed by looking at colours. For example, green gives some people a sense of stuffiness like a deep swamp, while others feel like sprouts. This is called personal colour emotion, and if you focus on these personal emotions, it can help you notice your mind as if you were meditating. What colour catches my eye today? What emotions do you feel and what do you associate with colour? Just looking at beautiful colours is healing in itself, but if you look at your heart by asking questions like this, colours will become your healing tools.

Thank you for being with us for a year in 2022. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
