Programs & Services

For You Telecare Family Service (FUTFS) assists individuals and families from all walks of life to overcome cultural, emotional, and psychological barriers through a wide range of counselling and educational services and programs. In collaboration with other social service organizations, FUTFS raises awareness of social issues and supports clients in the community through the progression of a healthy lifestyle and gradual integration into Canadian society.

Counselling Education & Volunteering Training Program

We acquire the appropriate counseling concept and the ideas of volunteerism as being aware in our daily life through various lecturers and topics, discussing and sharing with small groups, and applying our knowledge not only to FUTFS, but also to the practices of daily life, to Canadian society, and to those who really need help. This provides opportunities to gain skills and experiences on how to communicate well, have good relationships and how to practice volunteering work.

With a full of hope in us

By Jin Hee Oh

Basking in the bright sun and feeling the warm breeze in April brings enormous joy after a long cold winter in Toronto. However the province-wide lockdown and stay-at-home order resulting from the third wave of COVID-19 banished all hope of enjoying the long-awaited spring. How could the disappointment and the frustration be healed? All of us are struggling together: increasing numbers of critically ill patients with COVID-19-related diseases, their family members who are constantly worried, and over-worked and exhausted health care workers caring for these patients.

During the morning bed-rounds in the intensive care unit where I work, I happened to meet the blank stares of a COVID-19 patient through the glass door in an isolation room. I waved my hand in silent greeting. Immediately her eyes brightened and a beautiful smile spread across her face. Then I realized that this is our hope. We are not just the victims of the COVID-19 virus, merciless to the spreading disease. We are all together. We help others in need, we comfort others in sorrow, and we share the laughter and the joy. We, as a unified group of people, deserve happiness. The love we share through a warm smile and few words everyday will guarantee that we overcome the loneliness and depression which is widespread in the midst of this pandemic.
