The Mind & Motion Experience
Volunteering at the Mind and Motion program with For You Telecare Family Service was an incredible experience that left a lasting impact on me. It provided a unique opportunity to complete my high school volunteer hours while also forming meaningful and lasting friendships. The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming, creating a supportive environment that encouraged both personal growth and learning. Through this program, I gained significant self-awareness and a deeper understanding of emotion management, particularly in reading and responding to emotions. One of the most valuable aspects of the experience was learning how to interact with and support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The training and hands-on experience with the children greatly enhanced my understanding of their specific needs and taught me how to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for them. Working with these children helped me develop patience, empathy, and an appreciation for the importance of individualized care. Additionally, the program offered valuable experience in teamwork and collaboration, which improved my social skills and increased my comfort level in group settings. This experience not only helped me grow as an individual but also equipped me with practical life skills that will benefit me in the future. Overall, my time at Mind and Motion was about more than just fulfilling volunteer hours—it was about personal development, acquiring valuable life skills, and making a positive impact on the lives of others. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a transformative program.
